Bloober Team Done With Walking Sims; New Path Ahead

In a recent interview with Engadget, co-founder Piotr Babieno of Bloober Team stated they are moving into phase 3.0.

Bloober Team is known for its psychological horror games that are considered to be walking simulators. The studio’s primary focus has been on the story and atmosphere of its games. While you could die, Bloober Team’s games didn’t feature combat.

Moving into phase 3.0, Bloober Team is moving away from psychological horror walking simulators and moving into what they call mass market horror. Meaning the focus will not only be on the story and atmosphere but on the gameplay with adding combat.

I think the shift be seen somewhat in The Medium with its third-person view instead of first. And some areas where a character’s ability could be used as a sort-of combat for vines in the way that insisted on attacking.

Despite no combat, I think Bloober Team has made some incredible games with Layers of FearBlair Witch, and others.

Phase 2.0 has ended with the recent release of Layers of Fear, which is a remake/reimagining of Layers of Fear 1 and 2.

Phase 3.0 has begun and I can’t wait to see what they do next.

Recent Nintendo Direct

I know I’m a bit late, but the video above is the full Nintendo Direct if anyone missed it.

Lots of great titles announced. Personally, I’m looking forward to the remake of Super Mario RPG, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon coming to the Switch, and Detective Pikachu 2. I loved Detective Pikachu for the 3DS. I think it’ll be cool to play its sequel on a TV screen.

What game or games are you looking forward to from the Nintendo Direct?

Layers of Fear Releases Tomorrow!

Layers of Fear will release on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC tomorrow. Damian Kocurek, creative director of Anshar Studios, said that Layers of Fear is a reimagining of the first two games. Anshar Studios is a co-developer with Bloober Team.

I loved the first game, and I’m looking forward to this one.

New Trailer for Silent Hill: Ascension

Revealed last year during the Silent Hill Transmission, Silent Hill: Ascension is an interactive streaming series. Players will determine the outcome of the story.

An exact release date was not specified, but it says it will be live sometime this year.

Are you looking forward to Silent Hill: Ascension?

Fran Bow Now Available for Consoles

Fran Bow was released for PC in 2015. I watched Markiplier’s Let’s Play of the game that year. I’ve wanted to play it ever since.

And now, I finally can!

Fran Bow was released for consoles. I’m not sure if I’ll get it for Switch or PS4.

Are you going to purchase Fran Bow?

Wii U and 3DS Eshops Closing Soon

March 27th, both the Eshops for the Wii U and 3DS will be closing. Currently, it is still possible to purchase games from both Eshops. However, you have to add funds through the Nintendo website. Adding funds directly on either Eshops is not possible.

I don’t know if there will be any sort of closing sale, but I picked up a few games on my 3DS. I purchased Dementium: Remastered and Creeping Terror.

Will you be making any purchases before the Eshops close?

Great Deal on Psychonauts

The PlayStation store currently has a deal on the cult PS2 Game, Psychonauts. Originally released in 2005, it was considered a commercial failure. However, it earned many awards and gained a cult following as well as being considered one of the greatest games ever made.

I remember hearing a lot about this game back in the day, but I never played it. Last night I saw it is on sale in the PlayStation store and decided to get it. It is only $2.99 and I’m not sure how long it will be that price. But if you never got the chance to play it and you’re curious, now is a good time to buy it.

Shadows Over Loathing

Somehow, I missed this game was being released. It is a sequel to West of Loathing which is an absolutely amazing and hilarious game.

Shadows Over Loathing was released on November 11th for PC. I am hoping for a Switch release. I really want to play this.
